Een kringspel met alledag-thema's en ambachten

Voor kinderen vanaf 7, 8 en 9 jaar

Dit spel zou een uitgangspunt of/en verwerking kunnen zijn voor de Engelse les. De nieuw geleerde woorden uit het lied kunnen bijvoorbeeld bij een bordtekening geschreven worden, en verder verwerkt door de kinderen.

Wat betreft de tekst: voor de jongere kinderen kiezen we onderwerpen die dicht bij hun eigen leven staan; voor wat oudere kinderen kunnen we bijvoorbeeld beroepen als uitgangspunt nemen.

Speelwijze

Bij het refrein geven de kinderen elkaar de hand en dansen in de kring rond de 'Mulberry-bush'.
Bij de coupletten staan de kinderen stil, handen los, en spelen met gebaren de betreffende activiteiten.

Allerlei ambachten (crafts) kunnen met dit kringspel verwerkt worden: the blacksmith, the miller, the painter, the tailor, the shoemaker, . . .

Zo kan dit spel een bijdrage leveren aan het tot leven brengen van veel verschillende thema's en beroepen, terwijl de Engelse taal op een speelse manier aangeleerd wordt. Dat vergeten de kinderen hun leven lang nooit meer!
